MOUNTAIN RIDGE TIBETAN YAKS

We are breeders of top quality purebred Tibetan Yaks, primarily royals (black and white spotted).  We offer fiber and seedstock, as well as occasional trained yaks for packing and trekking. Yaks are a wonderful alternative to cattle as they eat about 1/3 as much, qualify for agricultural status, can be used for meat as well as fiber and recreational purposes, and are just plain fun. Yaks are most closely related to bison and musk ox, but can be crossbred with cattle. Their meat is high in Omega 3s and good cholesteral and offer a low fat alternative to beef. Yak meat is very mild tasting and not at all gamey.  We currently have nothing for sale, but anticipate having two royal calves available in fall of 2009. Enjoy our pictures of "The Yaks"
